  • Built an acrylic tank - not bad for first go

I thought i would have a go of building an acrylic tank for my grammastola rosea. I am not very good at diy but i thought got to learn somewhere so i brought some arylic sheets and got my jig saw out and here is my half finished tank. I still have to put the air vents in and a catch to lock it.

These are the air vents that i will put on the top and sides.

Cool, would you mind giving me the link? I've always wanted to make a few tanks but a nice tidy locking system is what I've been missing.

You've done a really nice job there Steven. How does the cost work out against buying a similar size fish tank in glass and making your own lid

                            It cost me the following,

                            6 x 3mm Clear ACRYLIC Sheets A4 210 x 297 mm £12.44
Round Stainless Steel (316) Grade Vents Set Of 4 £4.40 (I used 2 for this tank)
1 x Clear Acrylic Perspex Polycarbonate Glue Kit 50ml £5
                            2 x Acrylic Hinge Pair - 45mm £3

I don't know if would be cheaper to buy a glass tank and putting my own lid on but i did it because i get satisfaction that i made it.
