  • A bit worried over my Aphonopelma sp "Blue"

Hi im after some advice please. As you guys are usually spot on.

My Aphonopelma Sp "Blue" is acting rather strange lately. The past month its stopped eating and lived in its burrow - she always use to be out walking around and digging. She doesnt really move anymore (well it doesnt move, just sits there). I have checked to see if she's still alive and is very much so.... Darts up on her back legs with fangs showing when i touched her with a small paintbrush. She has gone rather dark and as ive only had her since June im not sure if shes coming into Moult or not (Bought as a Juvi, so still has the creme/gray tint), Is this length of time normal for her to be inactive and not move/eat - although still alive. Ive tried food in there but she move to inspect whats there and then go back down into her burrow. Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

    Thanks
    Lee

I wouldn't worry. It sounds much like a moult to me especially if she's stopped eating and darkened. They tend to get quite lethargic before a moult too so nothing to worry about there. Best thing to do is leave them undisturbed with plenty water and she'll be fine.

No worries mate, we've all been there. Make sure and get some pics up when she eventually moults. Don't worry if your waiting a while for it to happen though. Sometimes they really take ages, lol!
