  • Quick question and hello

Hello all im new to the forum and wondered if some one could answer a very quick question for me?

My girlfriend has been looking in the for sale section helping me find the T's I have on my wish list when she noticed this.

Poecilotheria hanumavilasumica and South Indian P, fasciata are currently not allow to be traded here. We thank you for your kind support in this matter.

Just wanted to know if these T's are endangered or particularly venomous hence the notice?

    Thanks

    Mike

why dont I appear as a member

when I click the link I get the following message
      1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
      2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
also why does the fact I am a member not show next to my name as it does with other people?

I know this is off subject but this thread brought it to my attention

The link is for the BTS members section of the forum .

Basically , P.hanumavilasumica it thought to come from only one small location and is therefore very rare . Some people tried selling them as 'South Indian P.fasciata' due to their striking similarity .

I think that its more that unscrupulous dealers out for a quick buck would sell the normal P. fasciata as South Indian P.fasciata for a huge fee because of the similarities. If they were sold as spiderlings you wouldn't know you'd been ripped off til the spider grew up. I think the only obvious difference is in the black banding on part of the legs.

Go to the BTS home page and read these online articles this should explian pretty everything.

The British Tarantula Society, the largest and oldest tarantula society in Europe.

            top 3 articles

            cheers

P.S Worth noting that there is pretty much no real difference in hanumavilasumica to fasciata which are easier and ethically better to get hold of.
