That's what I was afraid of. I bought three CB blondi slings and the have light colored feet, just on the first two pairs of legs. Any way to really tell apophysis from "burgundy"? The color of their feet seems kind of subjective.

i concurr with elaine, Theraphosa spp. "burgundy" have pale almost white tarsus and metatarsus on the front 2 pairs of legs.

the tarsi and metatarsi of T.Apophysis are all pale pink and T.Blondi is of uniform colour on all segments of the legs.

Just for clarification, all the legs on apophysis have pale pink tarsi and metatarsi?

          Thanks so much.

thats correct the tarsi and metatarsi on all 8 legs of T.Apophysis are pink.

not to worry though, with the exception of being advertised wrong when you bought them they are still awsome spiders and are still going to get to that massive size, also from what i've heard T. sp "burgundy" are generally harder to come by and so make them fairly sought after in some areas of the trade.

Thanks, that sounds like a positive ID to me.

Hi Wayne, I thought about that, but the Blondi pics are the same size as the Apophysis, I had to try about 10 times to load the Blondi one, I'll give it another go though.

hi ken, just out of interest how big in leg span is this spider at the moment.

looking at the picture, though not being able to see the other legs clearly, i'd say it could be T. Apophysis...................... could you upload some more pictures? maybe some taken from directly above the spider?
