  • B. Vagans died in molt

I'm just wondering, I had a B. Vagans female that was suppose to molt into a mature adult ready to breed. It was indeed her final molt. Non the less, she was on her back in the normal position and never got back to her feed again. I got worried after 3 days and open her hide, the carapace split open like it should, the process stopped there. She was feeding like only a B. Vagans can, drank a lot of water in her premolt. Still she got stuck in her molt and died. The humidity was 75% and tempreture 26. Everything was the way they should be. Does anyone know why something like this happens?

do a bit of research on "wet moults" and see if there's a comparison between the info and your spider, i've had a couple of spiders that have suffered through a moult and "wet moult syptoms" seems the most likely.
as far as i'm aware it makes no difference how you keep the enclosure, the spider just seems to suffer the awquard moult, i'd welcome any further info on this problem if anyone can offer ?

        Hi Colin,
Did some research as suggested, the spider was on the wet side and sweet smelling, but onething I really dont understand is that I never feed pinky mice nor calcium enriched foods as was suspected to be the cause. Even more confusing, everyone is guesing what might be the cause. Unless super worms do have a very high calcium content, she use to snack on them. The whole purpose of this is to try and avoid a repeat should the fualt be on my side. Any relating information wil be apreciated.
