  • ID stowaway spiders

I've just unpacked a delivery of crickets and found 2 adult spiders in the tubs. A previous delivery had 6 spiderlings of, i think, the same.
Unsurprisingly they are all very well fed!

I'm stumped as to what they are - any ideas?

    All best,

    Chris

Thanatus spp. (most likely T. vulgaris, but I can't say I've ever formally identified them)

Thanks Phil. With a name to google lots of info.

interesting to see they're common cricket contaminants - even more so that the same have established, both here and the US, in the same 'niche' - surely cricket cultures differ in origin.

Lynn - ha! usually i'm more choosy. but overnight one has built this sac and of course i'll have to see what happens.
