  • Walking death curl?

Hello everyone, my only sling at the moment would be a Haplopelma hainanum, but it has been showing strange behaivor. Apon arrivle, i oringonaly had her in a larger cage then need, and quickly trasfered her to comidations more suited to her size. Once she was in the proper tarrium, she began to climb up the walls and jumping from them. She is cuently walking while in a "death curl" as to say and hudling next to her small water bowl i have provided. If anyone would have any insight to this strange behavior, any info would be greatly appriciated.

    Thanks -Mike-

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. Regarding your sling, if it's only a small sling, it really needs to be in a small container, a water dish is not really necessary, I personally use a paper kitchen towel folded onto the base of the container, keep that moist at one end, then offer micro crickets or wingless fruit flies, yet again depending on it's size. Are you sure it's in a death curl, only they don't walk if they're in that state, could it be dehydrated? and is it warm enough? a good 75F or so should be ok.

I've seen some one else on a different forum report similar behaviour, but in in adult (10+ years old) Chile Rose, and after a few days the T molted the wrong way up, might be worth considering?

        Thanks

Thank you very much for the info. I will keep a good eye on her to see how she does. I do keep here cage at about 75-80 degrees, and she is about a one inch sling with a water dish smaller then her body. I've heard of stress curls, and i'm thinking thats what it possibly could be. But thanks again, and i'll be sure watch for any more unusuall behaivor.

With my slings that size,I normally just spray the sides now and again......just a thought.
They can then drink from the sides or the substrate a lot easier than a water bowel mate
          Hope it pulls through
