my p. murinus sling has become rather dark is this due to premolt like a adults bald patch would show ?

Become rather dark? These start off as dark slings with slight orange appearing on the abdomen, they certainly aren't light or orange as slings and my ones from August are still quite dark

        P. murinus is very wide spread within Africa, coming from over 10 different countries. Its also known to have regional colour differences. In the hobby we often see Red Colour Form (OBT), Typical Colour Form (Starburst Baboon) and Dark Form. It could be that you have the latter.
Darkening of the abdomen - a round black spot similar to a jewish cap, is a sign of an upcoming moult. I haven't noticed this on OBT, but I have noticed some Avics turning dark prior to a moult, specifically A. versicolor
