A straight answer to a straight question.

When I first went into the hobby (30 years ago) Selenocosmis sp. were widly collected although many of them were bought in under the wrong name. Ie " Selenocosmia sp.". This led to widespread confusion. Dealers sold lyra, honesta, javanensis, crassipes all misidentified. Consequently Selenocosmia were not bred in large numbers as the correct identification of the collected males was difficult due to the lack of gneral information on them. Very few people had seen the females much less the males. The result was that very quickly Selenocosmia became rare in the hobby and as only recently seen a resurgence with the interest in Asia. Species collected in the Early 80's and assigned to Selneocomia were misnamed by the trade and with the explosion in taxonomic interest correctly identifying them in the 90's / 00's we have seen a some ( dicromata for instance) making a comeback.

      Hope this helps
