  • KB problem...again!

I dont suppose you guys know of the thread I posted a while back regarding my KB getting her fang stuck on the wire mesh vent on a new enclosure I put her in. The fang got bent upside down and was wrong for a long time. Now I took a look at her and she was looking very lethargic and her fang area looked all red and mushy.

It looks like the fang has actually come off during feeding or something and now all this dirt and speckled dots are all on one side of her fang. I cant get a great picture of it unfortunately since I dont feel comfortable pinch grabbing her so this is the best one I could get. Any ideas? I feel that if she would just molt she'd be fine but I have had her for over a year and she hasnt molted once so I'm guessing she isnt going to anytime soon.

Also here is the thread I originally posted when she first had the problem - http://www.arachnoboards.com/ab/showthread.php?t=169151

So long as the wound is not still weeping she should be ok. Even a one fanged spider can catch prey. Try dead prey if you are worried.

A damaged spider will often moult quickly, so you might not have to wait as long as you think.

It's worth making sure the white spots aren't phorid fly maggots (can't tell from the image). If they are you'll need to clean them off. You can restrain a defensive spider in a clear plastic bag - with a small operating hole in it. It won't stop a KB biting through it, but will give you more control over legs and turning it upside down.

    Hope that helps,
    Richard
