Hi everyone just a quick note to let you all know what’s going on.
We are about to send out the renewals. You will notice that they have changed in appearance slightly and we have made two major changes.
1. At the top of the form we have now asked you to tell us the number of the last journal you received. This is due to the shambolic postal service in this Country. A number of members have contacted us to ask when they should renew and have they missed an issue. The last issue sent out was Volume 24 no 4. We believe that a great many journals went missing when there was a backlog of mail at Gatwick. Please renew and let us know the last journal that you received we will then check your records and sort it all out. A new journal is about to go out at any moment. This will be Volume 25 no 1. We are then producing a double issue that will incorporate Volume 25 no 2 and Volume 25 no 3. This will be a 25th Anniversary issue and will be packed with great articles and photos. I know Pete and Richard are working on it now. If you have any articles the send them to peterkirk@thebts.co.uk or richardgallon@thebts.co.uk
2. The second major change is that we can no longer accept credit or debit card payments as this has proved costly to both us and more to the point you. You can re-join on line with pay pal, by post with cheque or postal order. If you choose to use pay pal please take a moment to drop me an e-mail to let us know the last journal received. (angehale@thebts.co.uk)
We know times are hard but we urge you to renew and support you society.
As I’m sure you all know the BTS Annual Lectures are just around the corner and if you haven’t booked (why not?) please do so if you can. The lectures are always well supported and this year we have some great lecturers including Soren Rafn and Chris Hamilton who is travelling from the USA. It’s a great chance to have a chin wag with all of us and listen to some brilliant lectures. If you think the lectures are too scientific then take a look at the photos from previous years and you will see that we all have a great time. Contact Kim on kim@thebts.co.uk for details.
This year is also our 25th Anniversary Exhibition and we are planning a big one. It’s on May 23rd at Coseley School again and we look forward to seeing you all again. This year we have free lectures and the usual competitions and a few surprises. Each year I ask for volunteers to assist us on SATURDAY to help us set up. I have plenty of helpers on the Sunday but we always struggle on the SATURDAY when a dedicated few work hard to get the halls ready. If you fancy volunteering for the Saturday please contact me on rayhale@thebts.co.uk . You also get the chance to buy me a drink on Saturday night and I’m not too proud to accept.
I hope to make this feature a regular thing on the forum to keep you all updated.
Best wishes Angela and Ray
