  • 'Phlogius sp. PNG'

Bought a subadult pair of these last year from Lee. Anybody else keeping these, or know anything about them?

    Pairing 16 09 09

The eggsac was laid on 08 11 09

I took the eggsac on 17 01 10, and had a sneaky peak inside, N2.

    Yesterday morning:

Excellent result. I suspect the 'PNG' part relates to 'Papua New Guinea'.

Now you should seriously consider producing an article for the BTS journal on this breeding. I suspect it might be the first UK captive breeding of this species??

She's got a burrow, and she does use it during the day, but's she's out every evening. She seems pretty bold. When I first got her, she looked like she was dead, but as soon as I took the tissue paper away from her she gave me a massive threat pose and some loud stridulation. The slings seem a little timid, so I guess the confidence grows with size.

              Very nice species.
These look alot like the Aussie Phlogius sp.

Is there any more info on these?

Hey do you have a better picture of the male? I believe this is the male that you sent to Henrik Krehenwinkel for DNA work? I am working on those sequences now and would like to use your photos, Michael Olsina. for the voucher reference. The database I am working from indicates the DNA extraction is from a MM that died ?.11.2010. Any help would be appreciated! my email is mmorra.uog@gmail.com. THANKS!
