  • Moulting then feeding?

Is there a reliable way of telling when a Tarantula is ready to eat again after a moult?

My B.smithi moulted a couple of days ago, she's been stretching out since, drying out I assume. I don't want to be injuring her with food if she's not ready to defend herself yet.

Boris's Diary - written by me, he might have 8 legs but he's not big enough to press the keys yet.

Normally wait untill the spiders walking around without that "wobbly look"
With slings it's a couple or three days, juvies a litle longer etc etc.
It's not a majour problem leaving them for a fair while (they won't starve ) just make sure they have a source of water available.

she made it through perfectly ... not without a few tears from me coz i though the worst after "reading up"

I fed my sling Golieth between about 35 hours after she'd finished her moult, on a locust with a crushed head that i put in the box, as i was sure that during her moult she dd not shed the top half of the abdomen. After a couple of hours she was still holding on to a bit of the locust that had a few bits of vermiculite stuck to it that i thought maybe was stuck to her face, so i picked her up and she released it but had aload of blood over her fangs. I dont know if locusts have any blood thats red in them, and the say spider blood is clear or slight blue. The fangs looked pretty formidible for a young sling and looked in good shape though
