  • For all you expiranced tarantula breeders

As far as I know, when atempting to breed taratulas, it is always the male T that gets introduced into the females tank.

Is there and exception to this? Has anyone bred a spiecies where it is advisable to put the female in the males tank?

    Thanks,
    Yinnon.

In all wild tarantulas it’s the male that, once mature goes off and seeks out the female. This is why many successful tarantula breeders introduce the male to the female.

Trying this in reverse will have dyer consequences for your male and possibly the female.

Also the female’s tank will have all the scents of the female and will induce your male to begin courtship and this will help in the breeding no end!

“Is there and exception to this?” No not it the wild – However I once mated a B, smithi for a photo shoot and this was on a staged set. The female did produce an egg sac and they hatched successfully, I feel I was lucky and would not do it this way if I could have used the female’s tank, but for the shoot it was not possible and had to be on a set.

It was a nervous moment and one I do not recommend if breeding. Always add the male to the female.
