  • Stupid question probably but.....

My new b.albopilosa hasn't eaten since i got her at the show. I rehomed her and she seems happy enough and has made a huge and very deep burrow but just now she was out in the open and i noticed she has 2 white spots on the underside of her abdomen. They are equally spaced, one each side.

I wish she would either eat or molt! And are these spots normal? She is about maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch.

Thanks, and sorry if i have asked a stupid and obvious question!

there is no such thing as a stupid question, we cannot begin to learn until we begin to ask questions!

Perfectly normal - they're the book lungs.
As for not feeding, that's nothing to worry about either. As long as the abdomen is relatively plump and spider is active (as much as a B. albopilosum can be!), then everything should be OK.

Don't be affraid. Nothing is wrong with Your spider. My adult female of B.vagans doesn't eat 6 months and everything was ok. This is typical for Brachypelmas - they are lazy and don't eat.
