Hi Kenny, its spidersteve from RFUK, that Chilobrachys is doing well mate! I asked this question the other day as I may have two colour forms myself, I googled H lividum NCF, then LCF, then DCF and went from there...Sven koppler has light form and normal, the dark form look awesome though.

people here and on other forums talk about light or dark "color forms" in haplopelma lividum, there is not a distinct color form, but a variation (tint) of the color depending on the keeping conditions... temperature, color of the substartum and humidity. there are a lot of different real color morphs in Haplopelma lividum, and it is seen from the specimens from the different locale. if we talk about the "color morphs" I know at least 4 of them - grey, intensive blue, dark blue and brown, but that still do not make it a light or dark color form.

the sad thing about this talk is that it is starte by tarantulas trade sites, try to push the price up.

I agree with you there Benjamin, I think a lot of this is too hike up the prices, so what would be youre opinion on interbreeding the colour morphs? As this is puzzling me, if its Haplopelma lividum and not a sp then it should be ok to breed if the colour change is only due to temp and enviromental conditions?

          hi steve

i see no problem in breeding the color morphs, its the same haplopelma lividum no matter the color on it. i breed my brown haplopelma lividum female with my normal male, and when i say brown she is dark brown on carapace, opisthosoma, femur and patella, the rest of her is very deep blue almust black. i got a egg sac from her but she eat it 3 weeks after, so i didnt get to see if the color on them was the same as on the mother or just normal blue haplopelma lividums.

color is not only due to temp and enviromental conditions.

(btw there is a list of what T´s i have in the Introductions Thread)
