Hi everyone,
My poecilotheria metallica sling appears to have lost its R2 leg!! Its taken right back to the coxa/trochanter joint. It looks like a tidy amputation and only an empty socket remains. I perchased it from bugsuk at this years BTS show.Im guessing its on its 4th molt and it is ready to molt in to its 5th instar any day.I was feeding it tiny locusts so i cant see it being anything to do with live food.I might wrong, but im suspecting it has pulled the leg off itself but i can not see why it would do this.Conditions are excellent (warm, humid with plenty of ventilation) and a tree hollow hide with minimal light. It seems active and in good health showing no signs of stress and has webbed its enclosure nicely.Im feeling quite blue about this as my p.metallicas are the crown jewels of my collection.I also had a few p.miranda slings delivered last week and one turned up with a leg missing!! Does anyone no what could have happend here?
Thank you all
Regards
Chris
