  • P.Striata sling.

    Hi guys
I am totally gutted. My P.Striata spiderling, Boo, had what I thought was a really successful moult this week. He/she was moving about and looked fine. Next day I went to check on it and it was dead. I am new to the hobby so I haven`t had a lot of experiences with moults (although I do know the golden rules on do`s and donts). Can this sometime s happen, even if the moult looked successful.

    Many thanks.

This is the best pic I can do. It wont let me do anything bigger. I did notice that she hadn`t really got any bigger after her moult and her abdoman seemed quite small too.

Sometimes the little spids arent destined to make it

Poecilotheria are tougher than their South American cousins Avicularia.

The best way to keep them is damp substrate to build up the humidity but also good ventalation plenty of holes in the lid and if plastic down the sides to give cross ventalation.

The small abdomen is natural and is made to look even smaller because of their long legs.

Im sure you did all the right things and Im sorry for your loss

        CJ.

The not growing much bigger after the moult is the odd thing as they usually seem to double in size I know my little male Poecilotheria pederseni shocked me when he emerged after his moult.

Wish I could be more help not nice when a little one doesnt make it

          CJ.
