Can any one answer these questions?.
I have read that the B.albopisum is really lovely and a great beginners t..
    and also the B.albiceps..
But what really is the best out of the two?.
What really is the good and bad points of them?.
I would really like to know as I can't find any answers and that's why I am posting this thread..

    Cheers.

Both are great spiders tbh, i understand that they are somewhat understated in colour compared to some species (GBB and OBT's come to mind) but they seem popular due to many reasons, good feeders, dont hide all the time etc. And on the plus side if they are female they can live for quite a while

I agree with Mark... All the genus Brachypelma is a good beginner T... Brachypelma bohemei is also beautiful... The positive poit is that all the Brachypelma request very similar temperature and humidity... I don't know bad points... Infact i haven't any problems with my Brachypelma vagans... The only thing i can say you it's: choose youre favourite Brachypelma...

I think much of your question comes down to personal opinion. Ive never kept an albiceps so I can't reply to that but all the albopilosum Ive kept have been hardy, easy to care for, requiring very little maintenance and not much feeding. The same is true of all Brachypelma, and as long as you take care of the hairs you shouldnt have too many issues.
Ive not found albiceps as readily available as albopilosum but ive enjoyed keeping the various Brachypelma species for various reasons.

          Hi Peter.
So have you kept G. pulchra?. because Chris was saying that would be better than the B.albiceps

          Regards.

Yes, I have a G. pulchra. Whether its better or not is merely personal preference though.
Perhaps John, you could let us know what defines your preference in a tarantula. Many of us start with one T, gather lots more and then reduce to the ones that interest them more. If we use an analogy of lager I can tell you that the best out there is Warsteiner, someone else Staropramen and another personal might choose Stella Artois. Its all very subjective and we all have different opinions.

My preference would be very easy going and calm like - friendly/docile.
But I don't think there is such a t and it's much hit and miss with alot of t's as we both know some are tame like and others are evil.. it's life lol.
But it would be good to find just how many of these so called very docile pulchra's live up to being very docile and how many are evil.

LOL, I don't think any can be considered evil. The temperament of a tarantula can change during pre-moult but can also change according to circumstances. That's why Chris suggests testing the temperament before trying to handle. Some are more prone to being aggressive than others, but with many NW tarantula the aggression is mostly shown by flicking hairs or a warning slap of the front legs.
Considering your preference over species I'd suggest you look out for what people advertise as handleable rather seek a particular species. To my mind thats a strange thing to suggest but it seems to suit your desires.

May be an idea to share your thoughts with all of the BTS then......who are against handling any spp.

Please search this forum for debate on the subject of handling... you will find that the BTS as in the society does not advocate handling. We advise against it for the safety of the tarantula. This is fully explained within the many threads with in this site.

If you wish to handling yours then there is nothing stopping you. WE just recommend you don't.

                        Mark,
I will not condone handling on this site.
It would seem when others do it like Pete (poxicator) it is fine.
How about one rule for all Mark ?

                              good and bad

                              Hi Paul
Don't think Peter is advocating anything ok. Just trying to explain things.

Like I said the society has a duty to uphold it's mandate which is all about care and proper up keep of our tarantulas.

Which is why we recommend that handling is kept to a bare minimum. And such bravado handling and handling for fun is not advised.

There is always going to be a need during the long periods of keeping tarantulas. This is all been covered in this forum many many times.

My reply is curtail this thread from degrading in to a handling argument.

                              That's all.
