  • Avicularia growth rates

    Hi guys.

I've had my 4 A. Versicolor slings almost a year now. They were tiny 2cm when I got them and are now around 4cm, each having moulted 4 times. I'm expecting them all to moult again before the end of the month. Is this a normal growth rate? To be honest, I was expecting them to be a little bigger by now. I've read that some people can raise them to adults in under 2 years.

I feed them once weekly and the crickets I feed them are fairly big. Temps range between 70 - 82 night/day.

    Thanks, Jamie.

It sounds very slow for A.versicolour but these things vary, I have some notes on my website that might be relevant for A.laeta, my url is www://insectsupplies.terapad.com

    cheers

Thanks for the reply Mike. Yes it does seem rather slow. To be honest I don't mind the slow progress (providing they are all healthy).

I don't really want to increase the temps as they meet the recommended requirements and I'm not so keen on powerfeeding.

      Jamie.

          Hi Mike,

Thank you. Although I am having trouble accessing your site. When I copy and paste the link, I get this Alert message saying: www is not a registered protocol. Is the link correct?

Thank you Mike! Very interesting site. Thanks for the information. It does appear that mine are slow coaches compared to yours and probably everyone else's. I'm not too concerned about it. I suppose I can enjoy watching them grow a bit longer I've recently added some pics of my little beauties in the pictures section.
