Sorry if this isnt in the right place

I have a mature male b.vagans - matured last week. I also have a female I think I have tried to sex it but there is no hooks, it moulted 3 weeks ago and shedded the moult and she is bigger then the male.

Can anyone tell me if and when I can breed them? also How to prepare them as It will be my first time.

    Manyt thanks
    Nicola.

This species is pretty easy to breed, although I have seen females act very agressivley to males.

I would start by giving your female a good few weeks of food. If your tank is large enough place male in with the female, put him in a small petpal or similar vented box.

He should start drumming and vibrating, if she is willing she will reply to him, once she is been fattened up a bit just open the lid and let nature take its course. Be on hand to rescue him.

If she is not recepitve then give it a few weeks and try again.

    Cheers
    Mark
