You can edit posts for a short time after posting but after that it's locked

This is because the edit feature was being abused by certain users.

If you need to amend a post after a while just contact an member of the forum staff.

Thanks Mark. I generally use the edit feature when I've mispelt something or wish to add something that I've just remembered/thought of after I've hit the reply button.

Yes sorry everyone ..... this is the only way to stem the problem, inconvenient as it may seem.
