  • Another successful moult for the GBB sling!

And this time I was able to recover the moult as she popped it out her hide for me to inspect. I noticed a few days ago she moulted, have just been waiting for her to come out so I can take a pic!

    pictures to follow! x

Two pics from before moult (taken after her last moult actually) for comparison:

And now, introducing the new, bigger, and slightly different coloured Kama:

Does anyone else see the slight blue tinge on the top of her back legs? She's looking all lovely and shiny in her new colours. Very active and excited too, even tried to escape during her photoshoot!

Wow! He is tiny! Great pics, beautiful T you have there.

What is that patch on the top of the abdomen? It stands out in each photo. It almost looks like there is a small bit of the old skin still attached. Anyone else see it?

        Jamie.

He/she is tiny, but bigger than used to be. molting every 2 months ish at the moment, so wont be long before he/she gets a bit bigger and more of the GBB colours come through! My daughter is absolutely delighted with her freshly molted T!

Do you mean the patch without pattern Jamie or am I missing somehting? The patch without colour has always been there but appears to be smaller with each molt!

            Hi Joanna,

The colours are truely amazing for something so small, a beautiful spider, going on my wish list I think! It's a shame in a way that their appearance changes so much when they get big.

Yes, I think we are talking about the same thing. There seems to be a plain patch right on the top of the abdomen. I wasen't sure if it was just the light or a little bit of the old skin was still attached, but if you say its been there a while then no need to worry I guess. Sorry if I had you worried for a minute!

            Jamie.

haha, no worries Jamie. If you take a look at the old pre-moult pics you can see the patch there too (look closely the pics are of bad quality!) but slightly bigger, i think, than it is now!

Found this pic online of a GBB sling, note the very small patch similar to kama's but smaller:

Guess it's just a GBB thing? You're right it'd be lovely to see such amazing colours on an adult T. But what a great T to rear as a sling to watch all the colours change!

Yeah your right, I can't say I've ever noticed that before. Sorry again if I had you concerned. Great local football team by the way

I presume you refer to the men in red? Hope so anyway!

No worries, Cant say it's something I'd ever thought about as she's always had it!

What Ts do you own now, if you don't mind me asking? And you should definitely get one of these, they are fab and so friendly too! Kama is neither agressive nor skittish. She doesnt attack or run away. GBB's are also fab feeders, she can take on many crickets at a time with no bother, then come back for more!

There is only one colour and it is definately RED!

I've got 4 A. Versicolor slings (about 3 - 4cm) and 4 A. Minatrix juveniles. I let my kids name them, it's so funny! I'm planning on getting more soon, just trying to convince the Mrs and find the room to keep them! GBB is now heading for the top of the list!

Wow Jo, she has really come out beautiful now. And quite a lot bigger, i often wonder how they fit that big body in the old exoskeleton! Can't get pictures of Crumble fresh molted as she spends all day everyday in the maze of tunnels she has dug.

Is Rio being a bit better now? Settled down? xxx
