  • Update on my g.pulchra

She hadn't budged from sealed off burrow and yesterday morning i was feeding my rosea and accidentally knocked Juanita (pulchra) on the floor. It was about an 18 inch drop and my heart was in my mouth yet she was totally fine, if a little dirty from substrate. I set her enclosure up again with her bark like before but she made no attempt to burrow.
I took advantage of her being out and fed her which she ignored for a few hours but upon checking her last night cricket was gone and she was sitting on top of her bark (never seen her do that before!)
This morning she was under her hide but still no burrowing. I looked 3 hours later and i have an upright, freshly molted gorgeous g.pulchra!!! I am astounded, especially as she ate last night. She literally did it from upright to upright in less than 3 hours.

So thank you all for advice in my other thread, turns out she doesn't want to follow the "rules"! Will add a pic when she stretches out a bit more

I just to have a proper look to get some pics and the bloody cricket was hiding half buried on the corner. And upon closer inspection, she has lost a leg I feel terrible, poor girl. SHe is walking around ok, but i should have checked better for the bloody cricket. Will she be ok?

You can see that backleg a little darker....

Is it my eyes or is she missing 2 legs on the left (both III and IV)

It doesn't matter though, if she's not leaking any fluids then she'll replace them in one or two moults, these next moults may be a little sooner than expected if she's on a repair mission

I noticed on the pics and just went to see and yes, it's 2...looking the molt there is only 7 legs. Maybe she lost one yesterday when i knocked her off, i didn't notice I feel awful. Poor girl. No fluids as far as i can see. I feel so terrible. Idropped her AND i didn't see the stupid cricket. Really hope she will be ok. I wanted a pulchra for ages and was so happy to get one at the show. I love her to pieces.

Dude, I can only see 6 legs here not 7, is one hiding? I'm not sure if it would be the cricket would it? Could she have just got a bit stuck?
I'm sure they will grow back though hun, she is only small and will prob molt more regularly now x

and don't feel bad about missing the cricket they're tricky buggers aren't they? esp when you are feeding such small ones to such small Ts. As for dropping her, as Colin says as long as she is not leaking any fluid im sure she is fine. Blake knocked Nachos' box out my hand on tuesday luckily we were sitting on the couch and it didnt fall far - his hide and water bowl fell over and I went to rearrange them - big mistake as I had one angry LP in there!

They are hardy little critters especialy at that size so dont blame yourself.

I have a 3" Nhandu tripepii whose vile I dropped sending vermiculite and money spider sized "T" over the floor eeeeek.

Also bought a adult Bonnetina cyaneifemur as "imperfect" two short legs and just one palp after two moults with me she is just like new.
