hi guys, just thought id tell you all i nearly killed one of my fav t's. I had the week of work to clean up all the tanks, some looked like they would attract mites and others were just to give better hides etc. ( not the only reason for the week off, it was my birthday tuesday and i also passed my driving test tuesday too, just thought id slip that in
) i was sorting my euathlus sp flame out so took her out and put her in a tub, sorted out her house then went to get the tub and knocked it of the shelf!!! it fell 4ft to the floor.... i bin looking for injury for about half hour, she looks fine just a bit confussed, i said sorry but i dont think she understands. im gunna keep an eye on her... clumsy clumsy clumsy!!!! just thought id confess.

This is why I always do all my maitenance as close to the floor as possible. I even go to the extent of putting holding jars, if I have had to remove the spider, out of the way so it doesn't get knocked over. I think when something happens like this it makes you realise just how careful you have to be!

luckily she seems fine, she was curled up for a while but started moving around again now, all seems good. i will not make that mistake again. i was on the floor till i got her in the tub then just put the tub up on the shelf not thinkin of what could go wrong... i got two more tanks to clean and this time i will take no chances, the tub is staying on the floor.

Hope she's alright Mark, accidents happen mate, I knocked a load of spiderlings in film pots off my shelf not so long ago, I felt like a right spoon ... but they were all ok.Originally posted by Mark Shingleton View Postluckily she seems fine, she was curled up for a while but started moving around again now, all seems good. i will not make that mistake again. i was on the floor till i got her in the tub then just put the tub up on the shelf not thinkin of what could go wrong... i got two more tanks to clean and this time i will take no chances, the tub is staying on the floor.
These things happen from time to time.

We all make mistakes (sometimes costly) so if alls well with the spider just take this as a learning curve.
Belated Happy Birthday and congratulations for you passing your driving test by the way

Is that a reference to our inability to never say no to another spiderling? lol. I started with tarantulas as a cheap alternative to my 'costly' reptiles and now I look at my collection and think how did it expand so fast.Originally posted by Colin D Wilson View PostWe all make mistakes (sometimes costly)
Trouble is I now see tarantula items and just have to buy them:
Just had this sign arrive and now need to decide where to put it
Anyway Mark congratulations on your birthday and passing your driving test - try not to make any emergency stops with a passenger seat full of tarantulas in transit!

I recently bought the same sign. I`ve put it above the doorway to my snug (now officially being called the spider room, lol!)Originally posted by R Thomas View PostIs that a reference to our inability to never say no to another spiderling? lol. Well, I know the feeling only too well. I have what can only be described as an arboreal toddler. All my Ts are in the living room (only room for them really as onyl that and the kitchen downstairs and kitchen too cold), and while I was in the kitchen preparing lunch my older child screamed to say my toddler had climbed up to where the Ts are, intent on playing with his favourite, a rather well tempered and good looking juvie L. parahybana.
The result was a badly shaken OBT tub and a quick rescue of a half open L.parahybana tub. Luckily no escapees or injuries (them OBTs are impossible to kill pmsl), but definitely a lesson learnt for the future! xOwner of:A. chalcodes "Rio", X.immanis "Cuervo" and OBT sling "Salsa"

Oh I know that only too well! I have my wee lad in 'helping' me, and he came running in to me with my box of slings (I keep them altogether in a box.. with a handle!).. telling me that they were crying, and that they needed to be fed... the slings were all grand in their wee individual tubs, but the handle was removed immediately. Bless him, he is only 2 and a half
