it's a great idea.. but a price would not hurt would it..
as there will be updates as such so a low price couldn't hurt at all.
I use ifiles to keep my t records on and I can add pics of them to it.
The other thought is to update to 4.2 if you use a Mac you need leopard ..
the iTunes won't update 4.2 if the user has older Mac os.
I as a Mac user won't pay to up date my os from tiger as it's a G5 iMac and will cost too much.
So just a thought if you want Mac users to use your program.

    cheers.
    John.

      Hi John,

      Thanks for your feedback.

This App is more than a database, it's a connectivity tool that enables enthusiasts to take their collection around with them, exchange with others and get info on the move in relation to their location.

If you have a Windows PC, you can update to 4.2 easily, If you have a very old Mac in your instance, why don't you use a friend's mac or Pc? May be it's time for an upgrade Snow leopard on intel is a superb OS and very stable. You could probably pick up an old Intel Macbook for £400 if you shop around on ebay.

We are going with 4.2 as it provides multi tasking for the iPad and is much faster than 4.1 or before. All iPhones, iPod Touchs will be supported apart from 2G. With Android in next we can hopefully please most people. Ultimately it depends on support. The more donations we can raise, the quicker and more dynamic the product will be. If we raise enough to cover production costs, which are quite expensive, then we will happily give it away for free/nominal cost, but otherwise it will be around $4.99/£3.50 of which is a small price to pay compared to our little critters

      Thanks
      Craig

I'll upgrade my iPhone easy as the wife has windows lol.. I was thinking more of the ones that can't lol .
As for £3.50 that's cheap so I can't see any problem with just charging a price to start with as if it's going to be that good £8.00 would be ok as many t owners would still think that's a fair price.
And if users can upload pics of their t's for their own records that's even better.
I see the yanks can't wait for your app so I bet us Brits feel the same.
And what if say some one upgrade from one iPhone to another can the details all be moved across too?.
As we all know companies make more up todate phones and apple still has much todo to make the iPhone better.

        Regards.
        John.

          Hi John,

Yes all details can be back up, stored online for safe keeping.
Have you tried the iPhone 4? I sincerely doubt you can get a better phone, it's extremely quick and all the features you'd dream of on a phone. Massive improvements since 3G. The screen is by far the best and the camera is incredible too. Give it a shot, once you get an iPad you won't want anything else.

Thanks for the advice, will pop it up to £8 just for you! Kidding!

          Best

Out of interest, what feature exist on the other phones that are not on the iPhone?

I'm intrigued by this app. how detailed will it be? and will it allow hobbyist to enter info specific to their own Ts eg. feeding and breeding regime?

Nothing wrong with the lens or the flash! Its awesome, trust me. I used to take my Canon camera everywhere but now don't. Has HDR, read about it, great technology. Not to mention incredible 720p video recording. You won't be sorry.

Haha Rolls? in the T hobby??? I recall only one in the Hobby who earned that much, lets have a guess who that could be... clue, not in the hobby anymore....

                  Hi Peter,

Not necessarily about features, it's about usability of features. Touch screen is so much more responsive, screen is incredibly fine in detail. GPS locks on within 2 seconds, it never stutters in use, always quick, list goes on any on. I have had all phones and must say nothing comes close no matter how good they look.

Detail is a question of request. We need feedback like yours. If everyone wants extensive detail or needs it, it will either be include at launch or if time consuming in later versions. It's better to start off simple rather than overloading the average user.

                  Keep questions and requests coming!

                  Thanks

LOL Craig, you don't need to tell me about the iPhone, or apple products, been a follower since 1986. Im rather surprised at the backlash Apple gets recently but perhaps the smug adverts have something to answer for, I preferred the wry smile

There's an downloadable application (ArachnoRecord) that a number of people use to record their tarantula keeping. It includes the ability to add more species, edit existing species (ID changes), feeding, purchase, moults, even pet names. I think an app for tarantula should include the ability to add this information. It would create personal databases which individuals might share, similar to the way we share info in forums. Personally I'd like to see the ability to record information about breeding eg. temps, gestation, timescale of ewls to slings, quantities etc.

                    Good luck with this

                      Thanks for this Peter,

Will certainly have a look. I vaguely remember a Tarantula forum called something like spiderpix, that did the same, was great and in the cloud! Last I heard it was hacked into and was taken down. Anyone remember this? I think it's called spiderpix, may be different.

This sounds like a great idea - I don't have an iPhone but other half does and I'm sure I could persuade him to get this for me!

Sounds like a fine application, but I searched in iTunes Store using ArachnoRecord and found nothing...??
