I'm swaying towards male, but it is a bit hard with those pictures John. Can you get a closer up shot?

I'm not sure how you spell it
      epigastric furrow?
anyways im quite sure i can see it there
there should be a little slit right in the centre

If it is the same as this one here http://www.arachnophiles.co.uk/forum...male-or-female then it is a male. Even in blurry pics the bursa copulatrix would stick out like a sore thumb if it was female.

Still not very clear John but it does look male.

Can I suggest you take the moult outside and take a picture in natural light, holding the camera as still as possible but not too close unless you have a macro lens.

I can try again .. the compact camera has macro.
I just have to try and setup the handshake on it.
There is a slit in between the first set of booklungs but it won't open.. !!
I used a toothpick and still no luck..

I think you need to remind yourself of what you are looking for John. If you are a member of BTS you could d/l the journal from November 2006, 22 (1) where Chris Sainsbury provides an excellent guide. there's also plenty in various forums and websites.

The slit if it opens suggests female, if the slit doesnt open it suggests male, but its what's above the slit (the uterus externus and the spermatheca) that signify a correct ID of female. Unfortunately there's no sign of this in your photos.

You have a male, almost 100% and hopefully you can put him to good use when he matures
