  • Feeding Mature Males?

I bought a MM Haplopelma lividum at the beginning of November and he has not eaten in my care. Is this typical behaviour for a MM?

I'm not at all concerned, just curious really. He seems in perfect health and has been quite a busy boy.

    Jamie.

    Some do... some don't.

Drop a food item in overnight every week or so to see if he's hungry, remove it if not eaten.
Always have fresh water for them to drink, this in itself sustains them
I had a G rosea MM that lasted well into it's third year just on water alone, totally different from one Avic Sp. MM that ate regularly and actually put on a substancial amount of weight.
Don't forget to learn what you can, when you can, where you can.

Providing water seems to keep them going without the need for food but I often tempt them with a small cricket, this seems to be the trick and I rarely have to remove one.
