hi everyone and a happy new year to you all. just a quicky would it be ok to use top soil as a substrate. i've microwaved some but need to know if it's ok to use. i'll be mixing one 3rd vermisulite with it thanks everyone.

I know lots of people who do use it, even with the census being "it's a bit dodgy"
I've used it at a push in the past with no problems after an hour or two in an oven to kill off any bugs.Don't forget to learn what you can, when you can, where you can.
