  • SOME ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE ! (G.rosea)

    hi guys/gals

this will prolly sound daft , but here goes ,

my sub adult G.rosea that i got as a sub adult last may hasnt moulted yet in my care , she eats maybe once a month but drinks regulary ,i was sure she was going to moult but nothing yet , the one thing i have noticed is her abdomin is getting slightly smaller and has bold and shiney areas on it ,not shrivelled looking ,and i was just wondering if this is just is just wear and tare or if it could be an upcoming moult ,

    thanks
    iain

If she's still eating regularly then she won't be up for a moult yet, can't think of a reason, off hand, why she should be getting smaller if she's eating/drinking regularly. The bald patches will turn black on her abdomen before moulting

With Brachys and Chilis, the unusual is usual, if you get me. One of my Chili's went 18 months without food, then ate a few crickets, then moulted and now eats all she can see, including roaches, which she'd never eaten before, so I wouldn't worry too much about her, I'm sure she'll be fine

Maybe she had a poop and thats why she looks slimmer.

I know my old girl since being rehoused has been to the loo twice in her waterdish having not eaten for a month and then only two small crickets. She seems to have dropped a dress size or two.

            Chris.

Considering G. Roseas are regarded as an ideal starter species they dont half worry you to death lol! They fast for ages, they lose/put on weight regularly & can be fussy with their food. They are notorious for weird/unusual behaviour but youve just gotta try & not worry about them. As long as the living conditions are ideal then your T will be fine. Although the one thing i would try would be varying her prey items & the various sizes they come in. Its worked for my Rosie on several occassions

              :¬D

                hi
shes still not eating but is looking like a moult is approching as her abdomin is going bold ...

ive tryed crickets various sizes and red runner roaches various size ... since june she has ate about 4 food items .

my other T a lasiodora parahybana spiderling is eating like a maniac ..... so at least the food items are not wasted ...

Hi, loosing hair off the abdomen is not a sign of her moulting, you're looking for her abdomen going black where the bald patches are A bare bum, is usually caused by the T flicking, unless she's going to lay an eggsac, then they will flick the hairs of their abdomen then when laying a mat prior to laying the eggs

Im 100% sure shes not going to lay and egg sack . and shes not really a leg kicker ...... i think she done it once since i get her last march .the bald patch is on top of her abdomin ,so im out of ideas

shes still drinking and temperature is fine in the tank so its not stress ...

If you can, post a pic, but in any case, if the abdomen is showing a light colour, then she won't be moulting

My rosea hasn't molted in well over 18 months. She can go months without eating and i have only seen her drink once the whole time i have had her. They really are unpredictable. Everytime i re-house her or change anything in her house she spends 2 weeks up on the side. She may as well be a hormonal teenager by her actions!

Doesn't sound like you have too much to worry about
