When to meddle with steups .....

Our G Rosea is doing some major furniture moving at the moment. She's in a 12" cube Exoterra with a good 3-4" depth of substrate and she digging all over the place. She undermined her log so much it tipped over and now she's almost down to the bottom of the tank in another corner. She's constantly filling her water pot with substrate and now she's even started tipping it up and taking out the stones. I take out her pot and refill it but she just does the same again. Do I re-arrange the tank setup so that she's got more room to dig - and which does involve the water pot? Or just leave things to her to arrange? She's recently gone off food (whereas she's been a gannet for the 9 months we've had her) so I think she may be pre-moult. Would this explain the digging and does this make it a good or bad time to move anything??

Hi Jane.

My smithi did the same and no matter what you do they will do it there way.
Mine dug up from the front to move it over the back lol.
Then he moved some from one side to another.
If I moved it back he just started over again.
So relax and once they have it there way your see what they want.
Water bowl is just a case of refil if you think it needs it.

Take it out if you wish, they really dont need one if they have a regular food supply, if her abdomens looking nice and plump then she hydrated enough, just soak a corner of the tank occasionally this will be fine.

3-4 inches is fine, seems she's having a great time moving it to how she wants it

possible, and yes it could explain her having a shift around to get things right.
