  • Opinion/thoughts required Re: C.Schioedtei

Hi. Im mulling over the thought of purchasing a juvenile female, however Ive read that a tube hide should be provided? Is this absolutely neccessary? The reason I ask is that I had L.Violaceopes from spiderlng to MM in a tube hide and I saw him 4 times only!! Does C.Schioedtei have the same characteristics (a stunnig looking spider that you never see ) Ive read also, that in the wild at least, adult females are almost always found in trees. In captivity will a female revert to a more arboreal nature as she matures, would I be able to remove any terrestrial hides? Ive read people are keeping them in outright burrowng setups....anyones thoughts on this please

I've kept mine in an arboreal setup since a sling, although I've given a higher substrate level than I do for other arboreals. They can be quite shy, but if housed well, and the spider feels secure, they will be out most nights. They do tend to be quite photophobic though, so I suggest blackening out the back of the enclosure so that it's completely dark.
