  • Advice on getting Sac's

    Hi,

I have the following all mated and looking very gravid.....

    Brachypelma Smithi x 2
    Euathlus sp Blue x2
    Grammostola Aureostriata
    Haplopelma Lividum
    Phormictopus Cancerides
    Poecilotheria Regalis x2

It seems alot of these have been mated AGES, I was wondering if anyone has any tips on getting any of these to drop a sac. They all look fit to pop, with some being mated over a year ago.

    Thanks

With a lot of new world genus .. post seasoning seems to work (as with most pokie genus)

a dropping off of the temperature to low 70's (even dropping into the 60's) for a month or so, then soak them heavily, leave a week and then increase the temp up to the 80's ... throw in a good few smaller food items and it seems instinctively the spiders seem to feel that the temps and food availability is ok for the slings to flourish ... had good success with this post seasoning effect (especially with stuborn grammies)

The same idea with the pokies ... just to simulate the odd monsoon and insect population boom just after....a close friends P formosa was holding off untill he did this .. maybe just coincidence but hey, worth a try
