    Hello there,

I would like to know something about our spiders. When ever I feed them, they produce a web. Normally they shape it into a circular pattern. It's funny as they do this as there eating. What is this called? And why do they do it. It’s normally the Mexican ones that do it but my cobalt blue has also done this.

    Kind Regards,

    Matthew

Tarantulas do this to catch any food items that fall or drop during eating, its more often done when they have multiple food items at one time.

They will often also drop the food on this mat of silk, then add more silk over the top and then gather it all up agian. Thus keeping all the food in one lump and getting the most out of their prey item.

    Regards
    Mark
