  • Any ideas what these spot/blotches are?

    A member on the MISC forum has posted the picture below, with his permission I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone can shed an light on what these odd marks are. The spider has just moulted and as you can see there are now lots white spots or blotches which we can't explain. The spider in question is a B Vagans if that makes any difference

    The substrate looks very wet - fungal infection? (Just a guess)

      15 years or so of tarantula keeping, and never seen that..

      Yes, some sort of skin irritation is my first thought too, yes possibly fungal. Indeed it looks wet, which is fine sometimes, but not always. The longhairs of the abdomen look rather bedraggled too. When did it last moult too, and did it show anything like this before the last moult also?

        I would go with something fungal also. I would definately dry out the substrate immediately and maybe carefully try to wipe the spots using a cotton bud to see if they come off.
