  • ordering Ts online advice plz

im wanting a mexican red knee and ive seen a juvenile on the the spider shop web site decent price and nice enough size i can watch it grow and not be too worried about it got 2 slings and want to make sure i do right by them before risking any more but im not overly keen on ordering thru post seems a bit cruel what if gets stuck/lost in mail and ive seen some positive some negative things about the store so im wanting your opinions/advice

is it a good store for buying from so healthy Ts and good postal service etc or would i be better elsewhere or a private seller if so can you recommend any places/people?

its hubbys gift for me as a make up for the hidden asian fawn gift

I've bought a lot from Lee (owner of The Spider Shop) in the past and recently got my new Avic Sp "Guyana" from them and would always recommend . Always well packaged, Royal Mail Next day delivery. I would wait at the moment due to the cold weather, they probably won't send at this temp. But all the spiders I've ordered in the past were healthy and cared for. Very good option.

      Hi there,
I've bought 5 slings recently over 3 seperate occasions from The Spider Shop (two delivered yesterday) , they are shipping with heat packs at the moment due to the cold and all my slings have arrived extremely well packaged, safe, healthy and feisty. You can specify what day you want it to arrive so you know you will be in and they will email you to let you know when it's going to arrive. I have found them great :O)

Happy new T when it arrives :O)

You have absolutely nothing to worry about from buying online and I can only say good things about The Spider Shop and I have no connection to do with them either. I've bought all my spiders online and have had no problems at all. With this cold snap we have no, they may not post due to it being too cold so give them a call and ask as it's much better to speak to them personally than an email. I received 2 slings and and an adult female Hysterocrates sp yesterday and they're superb.

Hi ya; here in Spain many people buy on line because it´s probably the only way to obtain a varied collection (and the cheaper way too); they are usually very well packed and there´s no problem wit it EXCEPT that IT IS FORBBIDEN; here you can´t send any animal by ordinary mail and there are a lot of fines if you do so; you can send cats or dogs (or similar ordinary pets) using a special transport service that is very expensive and they don´t admit venomus animals; that´s the reason because I preffer to order the Ts to a pet shop (its slower and more expensive but safer in the end).

I would not keep them at higher temps and humidity than a Rosie. I would keep them at the same. Eco earth will be fine... All my Ts are on eco earth.

As for ordering off Lee and Vicky, you have nothing to worry about. They are friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable. About 90% of my purchased spiders are from The Spider Shop.

If you are worried I would call them and place an order first instead of online ordering. That way they can answer all your questions and offer advice to you.

Ive been using the spidershop for about 5 years with no problems and have probably spent about 1K with them over the years. If you read the negative comments about them, its usually newbies who expect a 5 star harrods type service that is only in their dreams. Almost all complaints are them not reading the section on postage properly. They seem to think that because it states next day delivery that they will get the spiders the day after ordering LOL.
All that mean is that you will get delivery the day after they post them, usually they post out 1-2 days after you order.
Highly recomended, you cant get any better than The Spider Shops service BUT if there is any problems a phone call is all that is need to get things sorted very efficently and quickly.

Can not reccomend the Spider Shop enough, I Started my collection by buying from the Pet Shops as I was wary about buying online.

But then I found out my pet shops main supplier was The Spider Shop and had put one hell of a mark up on some of the T's i decided to test the water with a small order and have since used them placing orders once or twice a month!

Customer service is of the highest standard and if any T's dont make it alive they are more than helpful with replacing next order or if out of stock a refund or store credit

Ive only ever lost a few avic slings and that was due to cold temperatures going to a warmer temperature to quickly The Spider Shop was very understanding and problem was resolved over the phone

They have a huge selection of different species at very good prices, and as mentioned by others are very knowledgeable and will answer literally any questions or worries like their slogan "If Carslberg did spiders, they'd do it a lot like us!"

                    No doubt my favourite shop!

I've never had a problem in 4 years of using the spidershop, I have had no reason to doubt them which is more than I can say for some of the other retailers out there. However there are some great private breeders which get equal praise...These can be found in here and some of the other forums too.

                            Hi.
I also buy mine from either The Spider Shop or Virginia Cheeseman. Both are great to deal with, helpful and hassle free. Both have good selections of T's ranging from slings to fully grown. Ive never been dissapointed with either,I know the service to be 1st rate Likewise as above I bought slings privately from a dude in birmingham many years ago,he was just as easy to deal with as the above

Never brought from TSS but have only heard good things about them, and Virginia Cheesman will be sending me a Stromatopelma calceatum Monday hopefully temps permitting and a H Mac at the end of the month, what i have received from her in the past has always been well packed, reasonably priced..ish, well communicated and on time and when i ordered a L Klugi Sling which she had no more stock of after i placed my order she sent a Juv for the same price,,cant argue with that....looking forward to getting some orders in at TSS soon to
