  • Eggs with legs care

    Hi all,

I recently pulled a Haplopelma lividum sac. It was 30 days old a few of the eggs had started to develop into EWL's.

6 days later and nearly all of them have started to develop. There are still about 1/5 of the eggs that are still eggs. The others have all developed into EWL's.

I just have a couple of questions to put my mind at rest...

How long does it take for the spider to emerge from the egg casing? I have a few that started to poke their legs out a couple of days ago and have made no progress since. Is this bad? Are they stuck, or do some just take longer than others?

Why have some eggs developed and others haven't? Are these unfertilized eggs, or again do some just take longer than others?

    My incubator conditions are: Temps: 22 - 23 Humidity: 85 - 87% (approx)

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys. I thought I would post some pics of my EWL's. Sorry about the poor quality. Notice the egg casing still attached to the abdomens of the spiders. Is this OK? Will it just fall off like a scab? They do seem to drop off every now and then. Some of them have it worse than others. Also, notice the egg that seems to be stuck? (centre of the photo on the right hand side) He has a leg poking out but hasen't progressed for a few days now. Will he eventually emerge?

Does everything seem OK? This is the furthest I have ever got so I'm a little bit panicky. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
