  • Hacking attempt / virus distribution

Please be advised that someone is sending out bogus emails in an attempt to hack and crash this board.

If you receive a email saying you password has been updated or *DETECTED* Online User Violation

From support@thebts.co.uk the support team or info@thebts.co.uk these email accounts do not exist and should not be trusted.

There is an attachment you must not unzip it or open it; this is most likely a worm or Trojan horse. The BTS has not sent these emails it is an attempt to get your username and password to try and hack the board or spread malicious adware.

    Regards
    Mark

Thats good news your AV package picked it up. As there is also a fake AV message attached saying it has been sweeped by The BTS AVG, this is fake as we do not use this one. Our server uses a different email anti virus filter.

        More hacking attempts

Please note that they are now sending this spam e-mail under a 'new mail addy'. Do not trust any e-mail which suggests that your BTS password has changed, your account suspended or any words to that effect. Under no circumstances open the zipped file which is attached to this spam (it appear to be a virus).

Just delete the message and ignore it.

        Cheers,
        Richard
