  • My Psalmopoeus irminia's scar (large picture size)

    Hello again,

    sorry for writing another message.

My spider has also developed a scar on its abdoman. It runs nearly the length of the abdoman.

    Has anyone seen this before?

    Kind Regards,

    Matt

Some tarantulas occasionally struggle to remove their old skin particularly the abdomen. The scar may be the remnants of the old skin or simply the last part of the old skin to be removed. It is nothing to worry about and I would imagine it will fade with age.

Looks to me like the hair has been scraped off when the spider squeezes between two objects (the tank side and a piece of cork bark maybe. As long as the abdomen isn't damaged everything should be fine.

that's kinda what i think. maybe the hair on a newly shed spider is very fragile and she may have scrapped it off while shedding
