  • Removing Eggsacs

    Hi all,

Can anyone give me advice on removing and artificially incubating eggsacs, basically the following:

    1) - How do you know when the correct time is to remove it?
    2) - How do you know when the correct time is to actually open the sac
    3) - What conditions should the eggsac be kept in to keep it optimal
    4) - Is this method preferable to leaving it with the mother and if so why

I know it seems like 20 questions!!! But I am expecting an eggsac or two to be laid fairly shortly and was interested to find out more.

I look forward to your replies and thanks for looking.

        Thanks guys,

For information it is a T.blondi that I am hopefully expecting a sac from.

Also I have tried to search this several times over the internet as my first resource and have not come across your site, but thanks anyway, I will have a look.

I also wanted to be sure that I got the right information regarding this as so many websites hold incorrect info, as I'm sure you are aware. Hence why I used this forum and asked the experts.

There's an excellent thread pinned on the Tarantula forum of Venom List titled Making an Incubator
If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...

Yup thats my hubbys post. Ray G very kindly showed us how to do that in February and it worked with our first egg sac. He has had repeated success with this.

You might also make sure you read the next BTS journal for refinments to the incubator design
                Cheers,
