  • Pokie moults

Why do poecilotheria eat the one part of the moult you want!
It's like they know and just want to make things harder lol..
So any one know of getting the moult before it gets mangled..

My formosa's love to do this!
Out of maybe 50 moults over the years from my formosa's I have managed to maybe get 5 that have not been destroyed.
I have seen them chewing their moults within minutes of moulting (and have noticed what seems to be an evil smile while doing so)

I have also now resorted to other methods of sexing.
I use dorsal sexing coupled with a bit of ventral sexing for mine.

I wonder why these do that when most other T's don't!..

Nearly all species i have, has tried this at some point but my pokies haven't that i can remember. The most annoying so far was a T apophysis, i'm dying to know if its male or female as its getting big but the 3 or 4 moults its had since i've had it, it has munched. I believe they are just trying to replenish some lost fluids that are lost through the molting process.
