  • Brachypelma Stridulation?

Has anyone heard of cases where a Brachypelma sp. has stridulated defensively?

Just transferring my B.Boehmei to a new enclosure and I am observing a loud hissing noise and up-and-down movement of the pedipalps and chelicerae. Used in conjunction with hair flicking. The specimen is a sub-adult approx. 3.5/4 inch leg span.

    Thanks,

    Jacob

My B. boehmei do it all the time (usually whilst kicking hair as well). The stridulating hairs are on the outside of the trochanter and femur of the pedipalp and the inside of the trochanter and pedipalp of leg I
    Because I'm a sad loser I have pictures -

    Put your arms around me
    Fiddly digits, itchy britches
    I love you all
