  • baboonspiders.de - new website about african tarantula

    Hello,
finally the english part of my website baboonspiders.de has gone online. The main focus of the site lies on african spiders called Baboon Spiders. My profound work on the creation of this website took about two years and at last I am proud to present it to you. One of the most important aspects was to show a key for the subfamily Harpactirinae (e.g. Pterinochilus, Ceratogyrus, ect.) down to spieces online. The key features are shown with drawings of Richard Gallon.

The following information is provided there:
    • News from the group of african tarantula systematic and taxonomy
    • History of african theraphosidae (main focus on the subfamily Harpactirinae)
    • Information about genera and species and their distribution data
    • Behaviour, breeding and bearing of baboon spiders
    • Gallery with pictures of African theraphosidae
    • Key for the subfamily Harpactirinae incl. drawings of the keyfeatures
    • Provided scientific papers and articles (download for free)
    • A newsletter in order to inform about changes/innovations is available on our homepage. News in systematics/taxonomy are presented and also our breedings of african bird spiders are offered there for everyone who is interested in it.
    best wishes
    Timo R.
