Tarantula instar development

Does the environment dictate how many moults a tarantula will go through before maturing? i.e. if kept well fed might they mature in an earlier moult and hence attain a smaller maximum size? I am think about males here as they grow faster & mature earlier, but I wondered if the number of instars was fixed?

No, number of moults before maturing is not fixed. But males will reach maturity at lower instar because of their smaller adult size.
