  • Condensation problems

    Hey,
So for some reason my P. irminia container has loads of condensation, no clue why as humidity in the tank is only 66%, theirs good ventilation ( 2 inch hole as the top) and the temp is good at 27C. All my other inverts have no problems, just this one. Any ideas?

    Cheers

    Jamie

    Re: Condensation problems

Air flow ..or the lack of it will mist up your tank.

How are you measuring the humidity ?
If you are using the dial type gauge then this will be wildly inaccurate, some makes worse than others but all are basically rubbish.

A 2 inch hole in the top isnt exactly great ventilation, as John has said the lack of air flow is what causes condensation.
A line of air holes around the complete tub just above the substrate level and another complete ring circling the tub approx 1/2 way and then line another around the top will be enough CROSS ventilation and airflow to stop the condensation.
PS. A temperature of 27C is a little too warm for a constant temp, it's OK for a while but a lower temps of 23-25 would be more suitable in the long term.
