  • MAteing Avicularia purpurea

1st of the male which I received today.

I decided to mate them since the male seamed eager to go and was drumming when I put him nest to the fems tank so I popped him in

    In he goes

The females started drumming back immediately as soon as I put him in and came up to the top to investigate.

She was still drumming like mad. They crawled about for a little bit till the male was underneath her.

    Then he lifter her up.

    He got two good insertions.

    Then time to leave.

I'll keep regular notes as this is one I wouldn't mind pulling off.

No sorry I don't, its been at least 9 years since I kept A, purpurea when I bred them I had a lot of trouble trying to selll them as no one new what they were. I did sell all of them in the end at the BTS expo to Byrant Capiz (deceased).

Anyway best of luck with them.

          Cheers

As Sarah's other half, i have to say that it's not going to be arriving at us this week now Would have to give it time to settle in as well, but we'll drop you an email in a few weeks to borrow the male if that's okay?
And he piled upon the whale's white hump, the sum of all the rage and hate felt by his whole race. If his chest had been a cannon, he would have shot his heart upon it.

                        What do you mean.

Avics are easy to mate and usually get on well together most avicularia can be kept comunally.

none of the avics have I have have ever shown any aggresion towards males and have lived happly together in teh same tanks for weeks

I thought purpurea were hard to raise from slings. I think that's what sarah was getting at.

                          [edit]Oh, i just read it..

We saw an article in one journal for an avic mating, the female darted around when no one was expecting it and ate him. [/edit]

Well I guess that goes for any species there is allways the chance a male will get eaten.

A purp slings imo are no more difficult to rear then every other avic sling

                              Oh okay, i was mis-informed.

We'll be in touch once we have our female and have it settled in.

How long after a moult can you leave it and still mate a female?? I'll see if i can get a moult date from Mark when i speak to him. This will be our first attempt at mating.
