    Hi folks,

I heard rumblings of someone producing a paper on how to differentiate between C.fasciatum and C.pentalore - does this exist yet? I haven't managed to find much on Cyclosternum on WoS etc, and no mention of this paper - I assume it's either in prep or was just a rumour.

I had a MM die last week and I wanted to have a go at confirming the ID. If I get time, I wanted to photograph the relevant structures and post them so that others can see what to look for.

I've not had a lot of time to look into the literature, but if anyone could point me towards a start that would be much appreciated. I suppose I should confirm it is actually Cyclosternum as well, since there did seem to be some mention of Metriopelma banded about, and have to admit I can't be sure I see the difference from photos.

    Its not a rumour.

It Is a big paper which is why it has taken so long (7 years of research) at present it is being read for corrections prior to going for peer review, should be at peer review later this month, and out not long after the corrections and suggestions have been done.

      Hi Ray,

Cheers for the response and the pm. I must confess I forgot I'd sent the pm to you before I posted this. Sadly, despite acting like a grumpy old man I don't think I can blame old age as the reason, haha.

i'd be interested to read this myself when it comes out. it's mainly curiosity for me at present as i got a reasonable sized female recently. it'd be interesting to know what differentiates (and if anything is easily recognisable from sight).

It is very easy to tell from the XXXXXXXXX xxxxxxxxxxx of the XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXX the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX and the XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX once you see it they are totally different, there is also a new species called XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx and another species XXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX being synonymised.
