Hi Peoples!
Just a few questions on Meal worms as I wasn't able to get a proper answer when I asked my tarantula provider about them.
Why do meal worms seem to attract mites a lot even though I have them kept in fine sawdust (very dry environment)?
I've also noticed that if I feed them any leftovers become infested with mites, while if that never happens with the roaches I keep even if i forget food in with them for days. Anyone know why this is?
Also is there a way to keep them and have something that will minimize or stop mites from infesting their tubs? Would keeping them in soil with spring tails make a difference?
I know some people may not agree with feeding tarantulas meal worms but I tend to give my tarantulas a variety of foods because they sometimes from eating the roaches (red runner roaches/Madagascar hissing roaches for my very large tarantulas) as they aren't interested but would readily eat worms (meal worms/wax worms/butter worms) as a substitute for a little while.
Thanks a mil!
Richard
