  • Best wood for vivariums

    Hello,

Just a quick question, is it better to use artificial bark in T's vivariums or use wood from a garden providing it is treated/heated properly? Or is there no difference?

Trying to set up a new viv and not sure what would be best.

    Thanks,

    Cat

I'm using all kinds. For the moist cages I mostly use cork bark and bought exotic wood, and for cages that are more or less dry I use stuff from the forest. Untreated. And I had no problems in more than 15 years...

I do the exact same as Marko (but for longer )

I use a lot of bark that i collect from the local woods, the only treatment if you could call it that, is to let it dry out before I put it into my tanks. My reason being is that many small inverts prefer the damp conditions that the wood provides, as it dries out many if not all of these small inverts die off.
I have never found any 'visiters' in or on the wood so I think that it must work
Some bark that i collected last year.

Ok brilliant, thank you for your responses!

Will crack on with woodland bark then.
