  • Tarantula evicted by cricket

It's been just over a week since my juvenile Mexican Red Knee has moulted. I tried feeding her today, but she refused. Now the cricket ran into her den and has made itself home there and is inaccessible. The Tarantula being a big softy is scared of it and it's reluctant to leave. Tarantula has been evicted from her burrow. Help!

    Thanks,

    ~Chris

UPDATE: I tried using bait but that failed miserably. So I decided I was going to actually going to remove the cave to flush the cricket out. Got it! And also, when I was putting Cora's house back together, she had made this remarkable structure on the left side of the cave of moss sand and compost. The cricket couldn't of done that, for one it was too big and also the cricket just seemed to be making a mess. Well that ordeal is over. Cora took her first little trip outside her cage while I was flushing out the invader. Dammit, crickets are not at all cooperative.

For some of mine, running from crickets is all the exercise they get :P

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless a moult was immenent, otherwise just leave it and the cricket will leave on its own accord.

You could try baiting it with a small dish of dry food, fish flakes or similar.
